At the Hakkoryu Shindokai Dojo, practical application of self defense is incorporated with the basic waza or katas. Students learn self-defense, body awareness, how to connect with the attacker, and how to move without restriction. Fostering this mindset is the martial way known as “budo.”
Through the exploration and internalization of the principles behind the techniques, one can protect his life against multiple attackers armed with weapons. An old saying of “becoming the technique” is only understood through actual practice and application.
As students study Hakkoryu Jujutsu, instruction is given on Koho Shiatsu Igaku in which specific meridians and points are covered. It is important to understand that in order to utilize either jujutsu or shiatsu effectively, both must be practiced earnestly and with dedication. Shihan Gregory Casey is authorized by the Hakkoryu So Honbu Dojo to teach.
Jujutsu classes are for adults and adolescents over the age 14 years of age. Children’s Martial arts classes are for children 5-13.
